Hollis Ingle Marshall

October 14, 1939 — November 22, 2023

Hollis Marshall was a man known for his smile.

He passed away at home under hospice care on Wednesday November 22, 2023 at the age of 84.

Born in Evansville to Hollis and Mary Marshall, he lived in Indiana, Kentucky, Texas, Ohio, Alaska, Mississippi, Tennessee, all before returning to Henderson KY, only miles from the city of his birth. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in History from Georgetown College and serving as a Captain in the Air Force, Hollis received both masters and doctorate degrees in Education from Mississippi State University. For more than 20 years Hollis was the Associate Pastor for Education and Administration at the First Baptist Church in Greeneville, TN. At retirement he moved to Henderson, where he soon started a new career joining St. Anthony's Hospice as chaplain. Hollis was preceded in death by his wife Kaye and son Kevin; and is survived by his brother Steve and sister-in-law Judy, his son Kenneth and daughter-in-law Carin, and his second wife Doris Scott (Marshall); he is also survived by his brother-in-law Larry Williams, sister- and brother-in-law Jeannie and Larry Turley and son- and daughter-in-law Scott and Gian Miller, along with several nieces and nephews.

Everyone who knew Hollis knew his love of UK Basketball, and he will always be remembered for his good humor and the way that he always had a smile and a kind word for anyone he met. No one could have asked for a better friend, father, or partner, and he will be missed every day. Always looking to give back to his community, Hollis was a natural beacon of strength and support as he comforted the terminally ill.
