Howard Lester Yates, 72, of Robards passed away Friday March 30, 2012 at 8:40 AM at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. He was born in Henderson on March 22, 1940 to Harvey and Ruby (Fritz) Yates. He worked in construction and was a member of the Henderson Moose Lodge #732. He loved gardening and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by 1 brother, 3 sisters and 1 grandson. He is survived by: his wife of 51 years Sharon Yates of Robards Mother: Ruby Yates of Henderson 2 Daughters: Valerie Stone (David) of Henderson Tina Chandler (Frank) of Henderson 1 Son: Mike Yates of Henderson 2 Sisters: Sue Nichols of California Mary Green of Smith Mills 2 Brothers: Bobby Yates of Henderson David Yates of Henderson 13 Grandchildren 3 Great-Grandchildren Several Nieces and Nephews Services will be 1:00 PM Monday April 2, 2012 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel. Bro. Frank Chandler will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday 4-8 PM and Monday 10:00 AM until service time. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Todd, Michael Yates, Nick Chandler, Cody Yates, Michael Langston and Ricky Springfield. The honorary pallbearer will be Lathan Yates. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Henderson Moose Lodge #732 or the American Cancer Society.
