Iley Prentice Powell

Iley Prentice Powell, 83of Cairo, KY passed away at 9:25 PMWednesday, October 16, 2013 at his residence under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. He was born in Union County, KY on July 17, 1930 to Lent Bell and Lucy Alice (Wilson) Powell. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Henderson. He was a retired farmer and an Army Veteran. Iley loved to fish and play his guitar. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sons; Iley Richard Powell, Bethel Prentice Powell, James Lent Powell, 4 sisters; Ida Nalley, Janie Baker, Ethel Echols and Vida Dodd. He is survived by his wife Jewell (Babb) Powell 9 children: Connie Carter of Cairo, KY Alice Williett of Waverly, KY Katherine “Kathy” Powell of Corydon, KY Brenda Hayden of Evansville, IN Leroy Powell of Cairo, KY Dixie Goldsberry of Evansville, IN Annette Powell of Henderson, KY Joe Powell of Cairo, KY Bobbie Green of Evansville, IN 3 sisters: Eva Fulcher of Dixon, KY Odessa Echols of Corydon, KY Nellie McNinch of Kokomo, IN 31 grandchildren Several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren Nieces and nephews Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday October 19, 2013 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel. Rev. Randy Durham will officiate. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery in Morganfield, KY with full military rites by American Legion Post 40. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 and Saturday 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Iley Powell Memorial Fund, C/O Independence Bank.
