Imogene “Gene” (Van Cleve) Staples, 92, of Henderson, passed away under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice at her home surrounded by her family on March 9, 2018. She was born June 19, 1925 to the late Maggie and Thomas Van Cleve and was the youngest of seven children. Imogene graduated from Spottsville High School. She went on to marry her husband William D. Staples and lived to celebrate 70 years of marriage. She was a retired school bus driver for Henderson County School System. Her love of UK Basketball, crossword puzzles, golf and bowling kept her mind and body active. Family meant everything to Imogene. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, William D. Staples. Those left to celebrate and cherish her life are her 6 children: Suzanne Wedding and husband Larry, William C. Staples and wife Charlene, Alan D. Staples and wife Mary, Aaron D. Staples and wife Paula, Amy Lilly and husband Jack, Alice Gonzalez and husband John, 10 loving grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Services will be 1:00 Tuesday March 13, 2018 at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson. Bro. Thomas Emerson will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday 4-8PM and Tuesday 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony’s Hospice.
