Ivan "Penny" Spencer Chappell

Ivan Spencer “Penny” Chappell 83 of Henderson passed away July 19, 2020 at Lucy Smith King Care Center surrounded by his loving family. Ivan was born in Union County to the late Marvin A. and Ethel (Spencer) Chappell. He was a self-employed truck driver, A US Army veteran and a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Ivan enjoyed playing golf in his free time. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Ruby C. Chappell in 2017 and a brother Marvin B. Chappell.Ivan is survived by his daughter Renee Chappell (Kevin) of Henderson; his siblings Delores Head of Henderson and Fred Chappell of Henderson County;  his grandchildren Abby Renee Jewell (Corey) and William Aaron Kendall; great grandchildren Khia Elaine Kendall, Bentlin Markell Briscoe and one on the way. Funeral Mass will be 12:00 PM Thursday July 23, 2020 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Larry McBride officiating. Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Thursday 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson. American Legion Post #40 Worsham Post will conduct Military Honors. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice or Disabled American Veterans.
