J Leroy Poole

J. Leroy Poole, 83, of Henderson passed away Saturday April 9, 2022 at St. Anthony’s Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center. Leroy was born in Robards, Kentucky on September 10, 1938 to the late Warren and Lucille (Ligon) Poole. He was a general contractor and property developer. Leroy was a member of Zion Baptist Church and lived by the words “We are blessed”. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers Charles Poole, James Poole, Mims Poole; 2 sisters Dorothy Bennett, Martha Helen Harris; 2 half brothers Virgil Poole and Raymond Poole. Survivors include his wife of 58 years Betty Boldry Poole; 2 children Greg Poole, Shasta Norman (Craig) all of Henderson; 2 sisters Hallie Denton of Robards, Nell Hobgood (Jerry) of Sebree; 5 grandchildren Leslee Poole Haile (Stephen), Kaylynn Daniels (Aaron), Christin Poole, Farley Norman, Warren Norman; his “precious girl” and great-granddaughter Ann-Hampton Haile; dearest friends Bud and Helen Crafton; several nieces and nephews. Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday April 14, 2022 at Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Spivey officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday 3-7PM at Zion Baptist Church and Thursday 9:00 AM until service time at the church. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Warren Norman, Farley Norman, Aaron Daniels, Stephen Haile, Chip Crafton, Scott Crafton, Brian Crafton and Sam Galloway. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony’s Hospice Giving Tree or Zion Baptist Church Greater Things.
