Jack M. Higgs, 74, of Madisonville, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Baptist Health in Madisonville. He was born on December 8, 1940 in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Clifford and Goldene Higgs. He was a 1958 graduate of McLean County High School and a 1971 Graduate of the University of Cincinnati. Jack attended First General Baptist Church in Madisonville, serving as a Sunday school teacher of the Fellowship Class for many years and was retired as an accountant from Madisonville Concrete/IMI. He also served in the United States Air Force from 1959 – 1963. He loved the outdoors, fishing, gardening and working in his church. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Anna Higgs of Madisonville 1 son: Brian Higgs and his wife Kim of Madisonville 2 granddaughters: Emilee and Gracie Higgs of Madisonville 1 brother: Don Higgs of Calhoun, Kentucky Several nieces and nephews Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at First General Baptist Church in Madisonville with Bro. Jerry Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery in Madisonville with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 6 Honor Guard. Visitation will be Tuesday 4-7:30 PM at Tomblinson Funeral Home Slaughters-Hanson Chapel and Wednesday 9:00 AM until service time at the church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to First General Baptist General Fund, 900 West Center St. Madisonville, KY 42431. Pallbearers will be Tommy Melton, Daniel Melton, Mark Howard, Gary Travis, Hugh Ballentine and Alex Tomblinson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Fellowship Sunday School Class from First General Baptist Church and Coleman “Bubber” Sandefur.
