Jackie Austin Strouse

Jackie Austin Strouse, 79, of Henderson passed away on December 13, 2016 at St. Anthony's Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson. He was born on June 12, 1937 in Union County, KY to Novice and Lula Mae (Edens) Strouse. Jackie began working at age 17 at Schmitt's Service Center in Henderson and then continued his frontend alignment skills at Sand Lane Sunoco for many years. He also was a vocational instructor at Job Corps in Morganfield for 32 years before his retirement, after which he began a 16 year career at Henderson County School System as a bus driver. He was a member of the Jerusalem Masonic Lodge #958 in Henderson, US Army Veteran, KY Colonel, and attended Dale Carnegie classes. He loved to bar-b-que, build bar-b-que cookers, and enjoyed boating. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Carolyn Majors. He is survived by his wife Henrietta "Retta" (Bell) Strouse, two sons: Duane Strouse of Henderson, KY and Dion Strouse (Christie) of Tacoma, WA, one daughter Dr. Karen Bonnell (Carl) of Posey County, IN, three grandchildren: Christopher Bonnell, Lyndey Strouse, and Katelyn Hearburg, four greatgrandchildren: Kayden and Fallon Bonnell, Avery Sutton, and Olliver Vaughn, three sisters: Lou Ann Whitmore, Brenda Barnes (Wayne), and Debbie Caldwell (Johnny) all of Henderson, KY, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday December 16, 2016 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jeff Coursey officiation at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson. Pallbearers will be Frank Knight, Bobby Knight, Brian Vandiver, Jesse Hurt, Joe Sutton, and Brad Oglesby. Honorary Pallbearer will be Avery Strouse. Visitation will be held on Thursday 4:00-8:00PM with Masonic services at 7:00 and Friday 10:00-service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with full military rites by American Legion Worsham Post 40. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony's Hospice.
