James Cabell Crawley

James Cabell Crawley was born in Henderson, Ky on July 4, 1933 to Robert and Edna Williams Crawley. He had one brother, David G. Crawley. He died on August 7, 2017 at 9:10 P.M. In Newburgh, Indiana surrounded by his family. He left Henderson at 18 enlisting in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed on San Clemente Island and Norton Air Force Base both in California. When discharged, he stayed in Southern California for twenty years working in the meat cutter's industry. He enjoyed working in Century City where he served the stars of Hollywood, their cooks and chefs. He returned to Henderson in the early 70s and worked for Wessleman's Supermarket in Evansville until his retirement. He lived in Boonville and Newburgh his final years, but called Henderson "home". Always the sportsman, he loved golfing and bowling as a young man. In his forties to sixties, he enjoyed hunting and competing in shooting competitions, winning several awards. He loved hanging out with his friends at the Sportsman's Corner. In his later years, he loved to fish, as had his father. He is survived by his four children: two daughters, Cyndy Garrett (Danny) and Jill Viars (Paul) both of Henderson and two sons, Tim (Lisa) of Henderson. and James Jr. (Danna) of Chandler, Arizona; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren., his special cousin and friend George Galloway, and one niece Leslie Crawley Parker of Owensboro. There will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Tomblinson Funeral Home of Henderson is handling arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be in the form of donations to New Hope Animal Rescue or Alzheimer's research.
