James Cecil Frey, 83, of Henderson passed away Monday November 14, 2016 at 6:07 AM at his home under the care of St. Anthony's Hospice. He was born in Henderson on February 3, 1933 to Ernest Cecil and Ruby Lee (Littlepage) Frey. While in high school, James played the coronet in the 2nd Inaugural parade of President Truman. He was an Army Veteran in the Korean War and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a Boy Scout Executive for 11 years and from 1970-1973 he served in the Tokyo area on the Far East Council of Boy Scouts of America. James was also a substitute teacher for the Henderson County School System. He was preceded in death by his father Ernest Frey and mother Ruby Lee "Mom Ruby" Sutton and 1 sister Jackie Floyd. Survivors include his wife of 58 years Sondra Frey, 2 daughters Jana Chantah Allen and husband Dan of Moro, Illinois, Jada VonBokel and husband Tom of Smithton, Illinois, 4 grandchildren Matthew Allen and wife Danielle, Eliott Allen all of Louisiana, Madeline VonBokel of St. Louis, Missouri and Olivia VonBokel, a student at the University of Kentucky. Memorial services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson. Dan Allen will officiate. Burial will be private. Visitation will be Saturday 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contribution to St. Anthony's Hospice.
