**Obituary for James Veston Haner**
**September 20, 1947 - April 16, 2026**
James Veston Haner, 78, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. Born on September 20, 1947, in Providence, Kentucky, James was the beloved son of the late James Calvin and Ida Elizabeth Haner.
A devoted member of Finley Baptist Church for many years, James served as treasurer for over 25 years, demonstrating his commitment to his faith and community. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Army and contributed significantly to the workforce as the Vice President of Administrative Services at Big Rivers Electric for over 40 years.
James is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Peggy Haner; their three children: Jason Haner (Kim), Jeremy Haner (Sherri), and Amy Orr; as well as his brother, Henry Haner (Lisa). He leaves behind a cherished legacy of eight grandchildren: Alyssa Haner, Trent Haner (Leighlee), Lauren Smith (Mason), Allison Orr, Olivia Orr, Libby Haner, Peyton Abell, and Reid Blaine (Caitlyn); along with six great-grandchildren: Landon Haner, Remington Haner, Jonah Abell, Sienna Castellanos, Elliott Blaine, and Paisley Blaine. James also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews.
Reflecting on his life, those who knew him will remember James for his warmth, dedication, and unwavering support to his family and community.
Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Finley Baptist Church. Visitation will take place from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, April 19, and from 10:00 AM until service time on Monday at the church. Bro. Jeff Burke and Scott Johnson will officiate, guiding friends and family in honoring James's life and legacy.
James Veston Haner will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
