James R. (Jim) Hayes, 80 of Henderson, died Saturday, December 30, 2017. Jim was born in Mt. Vernon, IL on December 30, 1934, grew up in Evansville, IN and spent most of his working life in Henderson, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents James R. and Addie Bobbie (Calhoun) Hayes, his wife Jacqueline Yvonne Hayes and a brother Kenneth Richard Hayes. He was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ. He met the love of his life, Jacqueline Stewart, in 1952 while both were working summer jobs. They were married September 11, 1954.Jim was a former plant manager for Cresline Plastic Pipe Co’s Henderson Plant. Following his retirement from Cresline he owned and operated Bluegrass Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate Co.He was involved in many community activities. He served as president (among other positions) of the Chamber of Commerce, United Way, Junior Achievement, Operation Community Pride, The Hugh E. Sandefur Training Center and the YMCA. He served the Lions Club as President and as District Governor. He also served on the City Water-Sewer Commission, the Hospital Board, the Green River Private Industry Council, the Arts Council, and as organizing Chairman of Leadership Henderson.He is survived by two children; Jerri Hayes Bridges and her husband William and Jeff Hayes both of Henderson, brother; David Hayes, 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until service time, Thursday at the funeral home. David Salisbury and Gary Puryear will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
