James "Jim" Richard Hunter, 70, of Henderson passed away May 3, 2017 at Methodist Hospital. He was born July 31, 1946 in West Virginia to the late Chester and Mary Hunter. Throughout his life, Jim excelled as a three sport high school athlete in Franklin, KY, played college football at Murray State University, was a high school teacher and football coach, and an amateur emcee and entertainer at local events and fundraisers. Jim never knew a stranger, and loved a spirited debate. He could often be found at Ellis Park watching the horse races and mingling with his fellow race fans, and most enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brother David and sister Patricia. He is survived by his wife Karen (Williams) Hunter; brother Daniel Hunter and his wife Ruby of New Braunsfels, TX; his sister-in-law Beverly Hunter of Franklin, KY; his children Dr. James Hunter II and wife Susan of Lynchburgh, VA, Casey Hunter of Evansville, IN, Chad Holliday and wife Kate of Franklin, TN; his grandson James and granddaughters Alexandra, Samantha, Rachael, Shannon, Anna Mae and Nora, mother-in-law Rose Williams Fenwich; In-laws Jay William and wife Stephanie, Mark Williams and wife Robin, Jeff Williams and wife Stacy, Sharon Cates, Mary Beth Emmons and husband Brad, Patti Below and husband Steve, sixteen nieces and nephews and far too many friends to count. Services will be 11:00 AM Monday May 8, 2017 at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson. Rev. James Hunter II will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday 2-5PM and Monday 9:30AM until service time at the funeral home.
