James Coleman Ligon, known to many as JC, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2024, at the age of 74.
He was born on December 1, 1949, in Henderson, Kentucky to the late Earl and Katy Ligon. JC lived a full and vibrant life, characterized by hard work, love and humor.
JC spent his career working in construction and the oil fields. His work ethic was matched only by his dedication to his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, JC was preceded in death by his brothers, Tom Ligon, Bill Ligon and Clyde Ligon; sisters, Minnie Richardson, Stella Cutsinger and Margaret Basham.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Julie Ligon; his loving children, Linda O’Daniel (Ti O’Daniel), Shirley Ligon (Chris Reny), Kim Smith, Kelli Buckhead and Caitlin Stone. JC was also the proud grandfather of Gilbert Bayer, Donald Bayer, Jasmine Ortega, Ti O’Daniel, Jr., Cassie O’Daniel, Ethan Reny, Kylie Frasier, Ava Davis, Zaylee Stone, Ethan Frasier and Isaiah Easley; his great grandchildren, Peyshynce Bayer, Aniyah Ayala and Carter Mitschke, all who brought immense joy to his life.
Those who knew JC will remember him for his sharp wit, his signature smirk and his well-timed sarcasm. His eye rolls and ability to hold a good conversation was legendary.
JC’s love for his family was evident in everything he did. His selfless heart extended to his furry friends as well, with a particular fondness for his dogs. He cherished the simple pleasures in life; well cooked BBQ, a freshly mowed lawn, a strong cup of coffee and the great outdoors. He also had a passion for big jacked up trucks, boating and spending time by the river.
JC will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit, humor and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
