James “Mack” Varble, 78, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away on June 21, 2025. Born on January 25, 1947, in Reed, Kentucky, James was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He lived a full and hardworking life as both a farmer and truck driver, always devoted to his family and community.
James is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Katherine Lucille Varble; his children, Tim Varble (Pam), Kaye Varble, Barry Gish, Allen Carter, Ritchie Varble, David Varble (Sherrie), Robin Meadows (Chris), Rhonda Harper, and Jama Carter Robison (Shawn); his sisters, Debbie Bender (Donnie) and Jolene Darnell (Darrell). He also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored and loved spending time with.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Uriah and Margie “Chubby” (Skaggs) Varble; his brother, Rusty Varble; his daughter, Crystal Carter Halstead; his son, Shaun Gish; and his nephew, Barry Murch.
James had a heart for the simple things in life. He enjoyed collecting John Deere tractors, playing bingo, and watching old Westerns. His warm personality, generous nature, and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Mack was a member of the Henderson Moose Lodge #732.
Visitation will be held on Firday, June 27, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson, with funeral services to follow at 4:00 PM, officiated by Chaplain Jody Hughs.
