James Thomas Spainhoward, 74 of Henderson passed away March 24, 2013 at Lucy Smith King Care Center. He was born October 17, 1938 in Henderson County, Kentucky to Claude Thomas and Frances (Phillips) Spainhoward. He was a retired salesman for Frito Lay and he owned Bryant’s Grocery Store for 12 years. He was an U. S. Army veteran. James was an avid UK basketball fan and loved to hunt and fish. He was a Kentucky Colonel and attended Spottsville Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Dannie Spainhoward. He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Nancy Spainhoward Two sons: Kevin Spainhoward and his wife Shelly of Henderson Kelly Spainhoward and his wife Jana of Henderson One brother: Darrel Wayne Spainhoward of Spottsville Three grandchildren: Kelsey Spainhoward Blake Spainhoward Lauren Spainhoward Several nieces, nephews and friends His much loved pets: Zoe and Jess Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel. Burial will be in Baskett Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 PM-8:00 PM Wednesday and 9:00 AM until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Brother Chester Smith will officiate. Pallbearers will be William Ross, Jon Floyd, Bob Glassco, Tony Cain, Tim Darnell and Phillip Meredith. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Griffin, David McLevain, Ricky Stone and Jonathan Meredith. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice.
