James Daniel Willett, 76, of Henderson, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at home. He was born April 8, 1946 to the late James and Ila Mae Willett. He was a coal miner for 30 years, a volunteer firefighter for the Smith Mills Fire Dept., and member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. He was a US Navy and Vietnam veteran serving on the USS Saratoga and USS Kitty Hawk. He was a Kentucky Colonel and member of the American Legion Worsham Post #40 and the NRA. He was preceded in death by his parents and fur babies, Red and Sadie. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Darlene (Nichols) Willett; sons, Scott Daniel Willett (Lee Anna) and David Lee Austin Jr. (Wendy); four grandchildren, Anthony Jacob “A.J.” Lincoln, Patrick Andrew Lincoln, Jackson Tyler Austin, and David Austin Thomas III; brothers, Jerry Paul Willett (Barbara) and John Armon Willett (Becky); and fur babies, Maggie and Sprinkles. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Monday, August 22 at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson with Father Larry McBride officiating. Burial will follow at St. Louis Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Worsham Post #40 Honor Guard and Burial Detail. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, August 22 from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be Scott Willett, David Austin Jr., Jon House, Aaron Hogan, Jackson Austin, Ben Payne, and Paul Willett.
