Janice Brown

June 13, 1937 — June 3, 2026

Janice S. Brown, 88, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on June 3, 2026.

Born in Henderson to Silas and Irene Overton, Janice graduated from Barrett Manual Training High School in 1954. She worked as an administrative secretary until her retirement.

Janice lived life to the fullest. Known for her quick wit, sense of humor, and tendency to say exactly what was on her mind, she rarely sugarcoated anything. She could light up a room with a joke, a story, or an unfiltered comment. Life was rarely boring in her presence, and those who knew her well will forever cherish the laughter and joy she brought into their lives.

She loved traveling and was always ready for a new adventure, whether it was a trip across the country with her lady friends, a card game with friends, time spent in the kitchen, or making memories with the Chattering Mermaids and Mermen swim class at the YMCA. Janice never met a stranger and had a gift for turning acquaintances into friends.

Nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with family and friends, sharing meals, stories, and laughter. Of all the roles she held throughout her life, being a grandmother, mother, and Aunt Janice were among her most treasured. Her family brought endless pride, happiness, and purpose to her days.

Janice was a caring and loving woman who celebrated life with enthusiasm and faced its challenges with strength and determination. She was a faithful member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Joe Steinwachs; her brother, Kenny Overton; and her sisters, Judy Pfeffer and Vicki Overton.

She is survived by her son, Joey Steinwachs (Lynn Renee) of Henderson; her daughters, Jennifer O'Nan (Von) of Burlingame, California, and Jan Burris (Steve) of Henderson; her grandchildren, Madison O'Nan (Lillie) and Noah O'Nan, both of Burlingame, California; her brothers, Wayne Overton (Rita) and Jerry Overton (Lou Ann); her sister-in-law, Judy Overton; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

While our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in knowing that Janice would not want us to spend too much time grieving. Instead, she would encourage us to find something we enjoy, embrace life, and make new memories. The world feels a little quieter without her, but the memories she created will live on in all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to Dr. Jessica Watson for her compassionate care, kindness, and support.

In accordance with Janice's wishes, no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson is entrusted with arrangements.
