Janis Simpson Winstead

Janis (Simpson) Winstead, 83, of Madisonville, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville.

She was born in Onton, KY on December 8, 1939 to the late Huston and Ruby Nell (Blue) Simpson.

Janis retired from York-Neel and Company as an administrative assistant. She was a member of Hanson United Methodist Church and longtime member of Christian Assembly. She was a former member of Professional Secretaries International and volunteered at Baptist Health for several years. She enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states. Janis deeply loved her family, especially her grandson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Freddie Simpson and Tommy Simpson.

She is survived by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Winstead; son, Mark Winstead (Janet) of Hanson; grandson, Ryan Winstead of Louisville; and two nephews, Keith Simpson and Michael Simpson.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, May 4 at Hanson United Methodist Church with Pastor Tami Coleman and Bro. Roy Ellis officiating.

Burial will follow at Slaughters Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church Thursday, May 4 from 11:00 AM until service time.

Tomblinson Funeral Home, Sebree Chapel is handling arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Winstead, Keith Simpson, Michael Simpson, Rod Tompkins, Jim Harris, , and Jeff Blue.
