J.C. Gates

J.C. Gates 82, of Hanson, Kentucky, passed away on October 31, 2016 in his home. He was born on March 1, 1934 in Muhlenberg County to the late Chester and Mabel Gary Gates. He was a member of Sebree Church of Christ in Sebree, Kentucky. He was the owner of J.C. Gates & Son Body Shop in Hanson for 47 years. He was a retired farmer and a United States Army Veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 6 sisters and 1 brother. He is survived by: Wife: Delora Sweeney Gates of Hanson; Son: Danny and wife Karren of Hanson, Grandchildren: Tina (Elvis) Robinson of Clay, KY Randy (Hillary) Gates of Hanson, KY, Jennifer (Josh) Pruitt of Sebree, KY, Angie Gates of Hanson, KY; Great-grandchildren: Lucas Robinson, Callie Gates; Brothers: Lindle Gates of Jeffersonville, IN, Darrell Gates of Madisonville, KY, Gary Gates of Isley, Jewel Gates of Kuttawa, KY, Timmy Gates of Madisonville, KY; Sisters: Murel Bivins of Slaughters, Jean Rickard of Hanson, KY, Eula Smith of Madisonville, KY, Anna Gates of Jeffersonville, IN, Janice Pate of TN, Mary Turpin of Hanson, KY, and many nieces and nephews Funeral services will be on November 4, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Tomblinson Funeral Home Slaughters-Hanson Chapel with Bro. David Leigh officiating. Burial will be in Hanson Cemetery, Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 at the funeral home and on Friday, November 3, 2016 from 10:00 AM until service hour. Full military rites will be conducted by the Hopkins County Honor Guard at the graveside service.
