Jerri Lynne (John) Vinson passed away on March 3, 2025, in Henderson, Kentucky. Born on December 7, 1958, in Aberdeen, Washington, Jerri lived a life filled with dedication to her family, career, and passions.
Jerri graduated from Weatherwax High school in 1977 and later persued a career in nursing, earning a degree from Grays Harbor Community College in 1994. Her nursing journey began in Aberdeen, Washington, before transitioning into travel nursing. Over the years, Jerri worked in Indianapolis, Indiana and Owensboro, Kentucky, before ultimately settling in Henderson, Kentucky where she concluded her career with St. Anthony’s Hospice. Her work touched countless lives through compassionate care and unwavering dedication to her patients.
Beyond her professional life, Jerri found joy in many hobbies and pastimes. She had a passion for furniture restoration and loved cooking for family and friends. Time spent with grandchildren was especially cherished. Jerri also enjoyed riding around with her husband in their convertible with the top down, feeling the wind and freedom of the open road. She was an avid fan of horse racing and could often be found cheering on the Seattle Mariners during baseball season. Her beloved dog Otis was a constant companion through life’s moments both big and small.
Jerri is survived by her loving husband, Terry Vinson; Philip Smith, whom she was previously married to; children, Jillian Carver (Russell), Patricia Ray (Gordon), Darcy Lucas (Bryan), Michael Vinson, Amanda Vinson, and Mitchell Vinson; sisters, Lillian Courts, Tamara Courts, and Susan John; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry forward their memory with love.
She is preceded in death by her parents Kenneth Courts and Patricia Hagedorn; brothers Timothy John, Dennis John, Kenneth “Buck” Courts’ and George “Toby” Courts; sister Teresa John; and nephew Jason Dokke.
Jerri’s legacy is one of kindness, adventure, and devotion to those she loved. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Tomblinson Funeral Home is entrusted in handling the arrangements.
