Jerry Lee Cooksey, 70, of Henderson, passed away on Friday, May 31 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville. Jerry was born on Friday, August 13, 1948 in Webster County to the late George and Geneva (Gates) Cooksey. He worked in sales at the Riso Company and was of the Christian faith. He was an avid musician, a motorcycle enthusiast and made it his mission to make people laugh. Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal W/V Device (21st Award), and Vietnam Campaign Medal. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Martha Jean (McCurry) Cooksey and an infant son, Joseph Cooksey. He is survived by his children, Jeremiah Cooksey of Atlanta, GA and George Cooksey (Veronica) of Tinker AFB, OK; brother, Randall Corbett (Barbara Jo) of Sebree; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on Sunday, June 2 at 2 p.m. at Tomblinson Funeral Home, Sebree Chapel. Burial will follow at Springdale Cemetery in Sebree.
