It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerry L. Ligon, who left us on June 5, 2026, at Deaconess Gateway.
Born on September 26, 1955, in Henderson, Kentucky, Jerry was the beloved son of the late William L. Ligon and Melba Faye (Neely) Ligon.
Jerry lived a life full of adventure and passion. He dedicated many years of his career working at Gibbs as a tool and die maker, but what truly brought him joy was spending time outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish, go for rides in the bottoms, and watch his favorite UK basketball games. Jerry had a knack for collecting arrowheads and was known as a Discovery Channel enthusiast, but his greatest love was for his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Karen Ligon; his daughter, Kelly Varble Gentry (Jay); four sisters: Ressie Haire, Pam Floyd (Neil), Amy Larue, and Melanie Koonce (Tony); one brother, Lynn Ligon; four cherished grandchildren: Taylor Barnes (Mattea), Chase Barnes, Kaitlynn Turner (Jordan Nixon), and Gabe Turner; and five great-grandchildren: Maddox, Adelyne, Willow, Sutton, Baker, with one on the way, baby girl Nixon.
Funeral service will be on June 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel. Brother Alan Butler will officiate. Family and friends are invited to visit from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be, Taylor Barnes, Chase Barnes, Gabe Turner, Lynn Ligon, Pat Bender, and Dillon Spaulding.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Zion Baptist Church.
Though Jerry's earthly journey has come to an end, the memories he created through family traditions, days spent outdoors, and a lifetime of faith will remain with those who knew and loved him.
We invite everyone who knew Jerry to join us as we remember the good times and the love he shared with us all.
