Jesse James Shelton, 77, passed away peacefully at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville Indiana with his daughter and other family members present on August 23, 2021. Jesse was born on June 19, 1944, in Henderson KY to his late parents, Katie Viola and Robert Lee Shelton. He attended Fairview Baptist Church in Henderson County for many years and he proclaimed his love for the Lord over many decades. He worked for Scott Lumber company for many years and later in life he worked as a pizza delivery person. He loved working and meeting new people. Even in his later life he loved to “wheel and deal”. He bought and sold watermelons in the summer, and he attended auctions to purchase items for resale. This kept him very active in the community. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Mary Shelton. He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Rosie Messamore , Jane Harris Whitehead, Dorothy Stone, Charles Shelton, Katherine Lingerfelt , Louise Cornwell and Lee Shelton. He is survived by his wife of 2 years, Marilu Shelton; daughter Jessica (Michael) and their children Meredith, Leila, Jacob and Nathanael all of Henderson. He is also survived by three adopted children and their spouses and children and grandchildren, Buddy Messamore (Rosie), Charlene Messamore and Tina Messamore. He is survived by two brothers, James Shelton of Henderson Co. and Mose Shelton of Labelle, FL. He is also survived by four stepdaughters and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Visitation will be Thursday August 26, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Pastor Dan Book will officiate. Pallbearers will be Marcus Peckinpaugh, Ronnie Bullock, Steven Mitchell, Billy Stone, Ray Adams, Robert Lingerfelt and Samuel Lingerfelt.
