Joel Thomas Arnold

January 23, 1961 — December 28, 2014

Joel Thomas Arnold, son of Claude Arnold Jr. and Lou Helen Craddock Arnold (Duke), was killed in an airboat accident on Lake Jessup, December 28, 2014, at approximately 7:15 pm. outside of Orlando, Florida. He was born January 23, 1961, in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his father, Claude, stepfather, Alton F. Duke, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Harold Craddock Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Claude Arnold Sr., an uncle, Thomas Harold Craddock Jr. and aunts, Emma Jean Carter and Carmella Robinson as well as cousin Jennifer Craddock Murphy. Survivors include mother, Lou Helen Duke, sister, Claudia Arnold Stocking and husband Joel along with niece and nephew, Emma Dunn and Jonathan Stocking, 3 great nephews; his special friend, Victoria Lee Cruz, an uncle, Mack H. Craddock, an aunt, Ester Mae Eastwood, and many cousins. Joel T., as his friends call him, is a graduate of Henderson County High School (1979) and the University of Kentucky (1984) where he earned a mining and civil engineering degree and his P.E. He worked for several companies before starting his own company, Atj Consulting, LLC , in Orlando, Florida. His personality was bigger than life as he never met a stranger. He always had a story to share! Many which included meeting the Shaq, Bon Jovi, and John Elway—most accidental and unaware of their fame. As a Shriner, he spent time fundraising for their causes and he was an avid Harley-Davis rider, sometimes combining the two together! His “hog” was UK blue! Joey will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel. A masonic service will be conducted by L M Cox 327 Lodge from Crofton, KY during the funeral service. Entombment will be in Fairmont Cemetery. Rev. Todd Linn will officiate. Friends may call after 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Stocking, Jason Dunn, Mack Craddock, Jerry Craddock, Donald Harned and Edsel Cansler. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
