John “J.B.” Benjamin Thomason J.B. Thomason age 88 of Earlington passed away at 1:20 a.m. Monday 07-09-12 at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. He was born May 25, 1924 in Hopkins County to Dewey and Virginia Watson Thomason. He was a member of the Suthards Christian Church and retired from the Peabody Coal Company as a miner. He served in the Army in World War II and was a former member of VFW Post #5480, in Madisonville the American Legion Post #6 in Madisonville and a member of the E.W. Masonic Lodge in Earlington. I addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Hester Dempsey Thomason in 1992, one step-daughter Charlotte Sumpter Phillips and one brother Leo Kemp Thomasson. He is survived by one step-son William Sumpter of Earlington one step-daughter Jessica Sumpter of Baton Rouge, LA, one sister Opal Rodgers of Central City, one step-son-in-law Robert Phillips, three grandsons Greg Phillips, Bobby Phillips, Jessie Phillips and one great-grandson Adam Watkins. His funeral will be Thursday 07-12-12 at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. George Brooks officiating. His burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Earlington. His visitation will be Wednesday 07-11-12 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington and from 9:00 until the service time on Thursday. His pallbearers will be Greg Phillips, Robert Phillips, Bob Phillips and Adam Watkins. Online condolences may be made at www.reidwaltersfuneralhome.
