Josephine (Kennedy) Groves, 81 of Dawson Springs, KY went home to the Lord at 3:05 AM Saturday August 9, 2008 at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, KY. She was born August 17, 1926 in Central City to Jesse Marion and Elsie Lou (Hellems) Kennedy. She was a homemaker and a member of the Suthards Missionary Baptist Church in Earlington, KY. She frequently attended Suthards Christian Church. She was a Board Member AARP Local Chapter 391 where she was very active on several committees. She was also a board member for the Madisonville Senior Citizens Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband John Edward “Bud” Schele, 2nd husband Vernie Groves, 1 sister Mary Margaret Horton, 2 brothers Marvin and Jay Kennedy. She is survived by 1 daughter: Becky and husband Joe Cannon of Evansville, IN 1 son Charles and wife Ann Schele of Evansville, IN 2 step daughters Becky Ann Waldrup of Cadiz, KY Tammy Kyler of Cadiz, KY 2 step sons Kenny Groves of Cadiz, KY Mark Groves of Evansville, IN 1 sister Iva Trimble of Holland, MI 3 grandchildren Judith Bosse, Jason Cannon and Daniel Jarvis 7 Step grandchildren 4 great grandchildren 1 step great grandchild Several nieces and nephews. Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday August 13 at Reid-Walters Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grapevine Cemetery. Bro. George Brooks and Bro. Brad Tucker will officiate. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Tuesday August 12 and Wednesday 9 AM until service time at the funeral home.
