Julia Annette Utley

Julia Annette Utley, 85, of Smith Mills, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on July 31, 2024, surrounded by her loving family under the compassionate care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.

Born in Henderson, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Sterling and Beatrice (Denton) Inge. Julia Annette was a dedicated member of Smith Mills Methodist Church and a proud 65-year member of the Smith Mills Fire Department. She also actively supported the Smith Mills Lions Club with various activities throughout the years.

Julia Annette cherished playing cards, cooking and the company of her sister, Delilah, and the fun of beauty shop days but her greatest joy came from being a devoted mother and grandmother. Her love for her family, especially her grandchildren and watching her great grands playing especially at the little white table and chairs all around her.

In addition to her parents, Julia Annette was preceded in death by her siblings Lonnie Inge, Charles Inge, and Sandra Sugg.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, John Tom Utley; her sons Darrell Utley, Mike Utley and Tommy Utley; her sister Deliah Poole (Butch); her brother-in-law Kenny Sugg; as well as 7 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Tomblinson Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Hale and Reverend Donnie House officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Mills Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, August 2, 2024, and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the service time.

Pallbearers will be Mike Utley, Tommy Utley, Jonathan Utley, Nick Utley, Trey Utley, David Sugg, Cyle Peltier and Jacob Knight. Darrell Utley will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Julia Annette's memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her legacy of love and dedication will live on through her family and community.
