Karen "Susie" Bender

Karen Sue “Susie” Bender, 69, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2023 at St. Anthony’s Hospice with her loving family by her side. Susie was born August 25, 1954 in Morganfield, KY, the daughter of Doris and Charlotte Cunningham. She married the love of her life, Steve, on September 1, 1989, and together they have enjoyed 34 years of marriage.

Susie was one of the most loving, kindest souls anyone could ever know. She never met a stranger and could make anyone feel like family. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother and grandmother who treasured time with those she loved. Susie was a devout Christian who often shared her faith with those around her. She wanted everyone to know that Jesus was the only way to heaven. Susie will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Steve Bender; father, Doris Cunningham; sister Carol (Tom) Harker; daughter Misty (Kevin) Frederick; son Zach (Ashley) Kanipe; son Bud(Jearn) Bender; grandchildren Haylee Kanipe, Morgan (Taylor) Shaw, Ashley (Alex) Schneider, Logan (Allie) Frederick, Chantz (Lakyn) Book; Tye, Quaid, Hatcher, and Annie Kanipe; Caleb and Hunter Bender, Zanielle Olitoquit; great grandchildren Za’Riya and Tavion Shaw, Isaiah Beard and Averie Frederick, and Blake and Zane Schneider. She was preceded in death by her son, Heath (Skippy) Kanipe, her mother, Charlotte Cunningham, and her sister, Doris Ann Pruitt.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson, Kentucky on Sunday, October 29th from 2:00-6:00 p.m. and Monday, October 30th from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow on Monday, October 30 at 11:00 a.m. with burial at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
