Karen “Memaw” Sue Floyd, age 68, lost her battle to cancer on February 1, 2023 at 1:23 p.m., surrounded by loved ones. She was born May 7, 1954 in Henderson, Kentucky to Richard “Dick” and Jackie Frey Floyd.
Karen retired as a Deputy at Henderson County Sheriff’s Department after 27 years. She loved her job. After retiring, she worked part time at Amvets Post 126. She loved the friendships she made out there.
Karen is survived by the love of her life, Gary Harmon; her daughter, Kaci Bennett (Derek) of Elgin, OK; grandchildren, Luci Stahl (Joshua) of Fort Hood, TX, Lili Bennett and Libi Bennett of Elgin, OK; great grandson, Isaiah Bennett-Cunningham of Elgin, OK.; brother, Joel Floyd of Weatherford, TX; nieces, Ashley Hayes, Connor Brown, and Chandler Floyd; nephew, Paxton Hare; great nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her mother, father, and best friend and sister, Julie Hare.
Karen enjoyed seeing her daughter and grandchildren any chance she could get. She loved to travel, and the beach was her favorite travel destination. She spent the last five years with the love of her life, Gary. Karen had the biggest heart and was the best friend anyone could ask for.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 4 at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson with Rhonda Richards officiating.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, February 3 from 4-8 p.m. and on Saturday, February 4 from 11 a.m. until service time.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Amvets Post 126.
