Karen Nichols (73), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 9th, at Deaconess Gateway, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and devotion to those she held dear.
Karen was the devoted wife of Fred Nichols, with whom she shared 42 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in love and strength, raising their family and supporting one another through every chapter of life.
She is survived by her husband Fred; her daughter Nikki Raben and son-in-law Chad; her granddaughter Taylor Jones and her husband Colton; and her grandson Wyatt Nichols. Karen alongside Fred lovingly raised Taylor and Wyatt since 2004. Karen's family was her greatest joy, and her presence will be deeply missed by her eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and her sisters- in- laws Darlene Willett and Barbara Ann Fulkerson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Mae Duncan, as well as her stepson and daughter-in-law, Pat and Shannon Nichols and her brother-in-laws Danny Willett and Kenneth Fulkerson.
Karen dedicated 51 years of service to Brenntag, retiring in 2025. Her career was a reflection of her commitment, perseverance, and loyalty. Outside of her work, she cherished her time in Florida, her "home away from home," where she enjoyed rest, sunshine, and memories with her loved ones. Above all, Karen found her greatest happiness in being surrounded by her family-especially cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events, always their biggest fan.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 12th, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Tomblinson Funeral Home, and again on Saturday, September 13th, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m., with burial at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Karen will be remembered for her unwavering love, warm spirit, and the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her. Her legacy lives on through her family, who will carry her strength and love in their hearts forever.
