Katherine Lucille Varble

Katherine Lucille "Lucy" Varble, 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 10, at 4:28 p.m., surrounded by her loving family.

Lucy was born on August 17, 1947, to J.Y. Gish and Neomia Gish. She was a feisty lady with a big personality who enjoyed the simple things in life. Lucy loved playing Bingo with Erika and spending time at the Gathering Place with her brother Charlie, where she enjoyed listening to music. She also had a love for bartending and worked at several places throughout town. Lucy was a proud member of the Ladies of the Moose.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 39 years, Mack Varble; her son, Barry Gish; her daughter, Crystal Halstead; her grandson, Shaun Michael Gish; her brothers, Jackie, Jimmy, Donnie, and Mike Gish; and her sisters, Linda Carter, Betty Morgan, and Beverly Burris.

She is survived by her son, Allen Carter; daughters, Robin (Chris) Meadows and Jama (Shawn) Robison; brothers, Charlie Gish and Franz Gish; and sisters, Tiny Hargiss, Martha (John) Schoening, and Sharon (Tommy) Alexander and close family friends Marla Wilson and Rhonda Harper. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who will cherish the memories they shared with her.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 4:00 p.m.
