Kathryn Groves Underwood

Mrs. Kathryn “Kay” Groves Underwood, 80, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at her residence in Louisville, Miss. Funeral services will be Sunday, July 9, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. at Haven Pentecostal Church in Henderson, Ky., with Rev. Phil Wagoner and Rev. Vernon Rigsby officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at Haven Pentecostal Church from 12:30 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson. Kay was born October 21, 1936, in Little Rock, Ark., to Corum “Doc” and Lindell Odell Evans. She was a member of River of Life Church; she loved working in her flower beds and gardening and the neighborhood cats; but most importantly she loved and was totally devoted to the Lord. Mrs. Underwood is survived by her husband, Fred Underwood; daughters, Angela Felker (Dick) and Marti Groves (Tony); sons, Michael Groves (Kathy) and Richard Groves (Angela); stepdaughter, Crystal Henderson (Bob); and stepsons, Freddie Underwood (Beverly); Flint Underwood (Kathy); and Eddie Underwood (Paula). One of her greatest joys was being “NanNaw”, “Granny”, or “Grandma” to a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Rita Peyton (Larry); and Kennda Melick (Owen); and a brother, Corum Evans (Ellen). Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Groves; her parents; brothers, Wayne Evans and James Ivan Evans; and sisters, Becky Austin and Delores Nunley. Memorial contributions in honor of Mrs. Underwood may be given to St. Anthony’s Hospice, 2410 S Green St, Henderson, KY 42420.
