Larry Duane Brashear

Larry Duane Brashear, 65, of Henderson, passed away Thursday evening September 10th, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Larry was born in New Albany, Indiana, to Dorothy (Beach) Sharpe and the late Ronald H Brashear.

Larry was a hardworking man who spent his career as an over-the-road truck driver. He took great pride in his work and dedicated many years to providing for and caring for his family. After a long and dedicated career, Larry retired in December, looking forward to spending more time enjoying life and the people he loved most.

Larry enjoyed riding his Harleys on beautiful, sunny days, especially when he could share those rides with his wife, Deanna. He loved playing Keno at the casinos, spending time with their dog, Lilly, whom he would insist he “didn’t” like, despite the fact that she always seemed to be right by his side, and caring for his beloved baby ferrets. But above all else, Larry loved his family. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment he was able to spend with them.

Larry was an amazing husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, a caring brother and uncle, and a friend to many. The love Larry gave to his family was unconditional, and his greatest legacy will be the love he gave and the lives he touched.

In addition to his grandparents and father, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Brashear; sister, Rhonda Scholl; and nephew, Matt Feather.

Larry leaves behind his loving wife of three years, Deanna Brashear; his three children, Cory (Tasha Wheeler) Brashear, Dustin Russelburg, and Abby Russelburg; four beloved granddaughters, Payten, Paige, Piper, and Portlyn; two sisters, Lisa (Rich) Feather and Nicole (Shawn) Denny; three nieces, Christy (Steven) Richey, Bri (Cody) Payne, and Samantha Feather; four nephews, Todd Scholl, Matt (Brittany) Scholl, Cole Denny and Burt (Amanda) Feather; his grandnieces and grandnephew, Robin Richey, Emma Scholl, and Logan Richey; his ex-wife, Diane Brashear; and numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Larry will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of the open road, his Harley rides with Deanna, his enjoyment of the simple things in life, and most of all, the deep love he had for his family. Though his time with them was far too short, the love he shared and the memories he leaves behind will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Larry's family takes comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering and is now at peace.

A private Celebration of Life for Larry will be held at a later date in New Albany, Indiana.
