Larry King Harwood, 77 of Henderson passed away November 19, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center. He was born August 24, 1940 in Henderson to Herman and Anna (Griffin) Harwood. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran who had received the bronze star and purple heart, Pastor of Zoar United Church Christ in Elberfeld, IN, Boy Scout round table commissioner and was a silver beaver, member of American Legion Post #40, KY Colonel and founder of Operation Community Pride.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Bernice Harwood of 48 years and sister; Melanie Soliday. Larry is survived by 4 children; Diane Cecil Folz of Blacksburg, VA, John William Harwood of Seminole, FL, Larry Joseph Harwood and his wife Leah of Dahlonega, GA, Susan Virginia Harwood Sainz and her husband Jose of Grand Rapids, MI, 1 sister; Beverly Yates of Cadiz, KY, 6 grandchildren; Dietrich Thomas Hess, Christian Harwood Hess, Sebastian Simon Hess, Katherine Johanna Harwood, Bailey Nicole Armour, Trent Anthony Armour, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday 1:00 PM at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson. Huston Reese will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with military rites conducted by the American Legion Worsham Post 40 Honor Guard. Visitation will be Tuesday, 5:00 PM-8:00 PM and Wednesday, 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Dietrich Hess, Christian Hess, Sebastian Simon Hess, John Baugh, Trent Armour and Paul Moore.Memorial contributions can be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice.
