Larry Eugene Sawyer, 81, of Henderson, KY born April 8, 1943, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at his home. His death was unexpected and came suddenly, but the reunion that he would have with loved ones gone before him was something he had longed for in his soul. His heart was fractured by the death of his beloved mother, Mary Catherine Sawyer, broken when a tragic car accident claimed the life of his precious daughter, DeLania Denton, and shattered when he lost his beautiful wife of 42 years and mother of his children, Charlotte Sawyer.
For the love of God and his country, he enlisted and served in the National Guard. He worked hard to provide for his family and retired from Indian Industries.
In his latter years, Larry turned his attention to the serene beauty of nature. He could most likely be found working in his yard or sitting on his front porch watching the birds and deer that he loved to feed, frolic about. He cherished his best friend and loyal four-legged companion Silly, and adored all of the other fur babies that had loved him unconditionally in his lifetime. He was an Elvis Presley enthusiast and his music could often be heard playing throughout the home.
In addition to his wife, daughter and mother, he was also proceeded in death by his infant grandson Larry Dylan Sawyer; brother Joseph Sawyer; sister Ruby Chappell; mother-in-law Pauline Skaggs; father-in-law Wilbur Skaggs; sisters-in-law Donna Beck and Carol Jean Swearer; and brothers-in-law Spencer Chappell, Richard Beck and Lee Skaggs.
His earthly departure leaves an immense void and a tremendous hole in our hearts. We will spend a lifetime of missing him for the privilege of loving him. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Paula (Carl) Schriber; son Bradley Sawyer; Grandchildren Jon Schriber, Zach Schriber, Adam Schriber, Jessica Schriber, Jeremy Denton, Joshua Denton and Brittany (Cliff) Kitchens; Great grandchildren Emma and Jonathon Schriber, Levi and Emily Kitchens, Shon Denton-Higgs, and Macayla, Brody, and Kathryn Denton; brother-in-law Larry Swearer; nieces and nephews.
