Larry Wayne Skaggs

July 7, 1948 — January 30, 2024

In loving memory of Larry Wayne Skaggs, age 75, who entered Eternal Life on January 30, 2024.

Born in Scuffletown Bottoms, Kentucky, to the late Oscar and Willie Bell Skaggs, Larry was the beloved baby of the family. His life epitomized grace and generosity, often extending himself for the benefit of others with a spirit of kindness and compassion that knew no bounds.

The true extent of the lives Larry touched and the charity he bestowed upon others is a testament to his remarkable character. His endearing habit of affectionately calling people "bub" or "sis" created an atmosphere of warmth, coupled with a contagious laughter that could instantly uplift any room.

Larry's deep connection to all living beings, particularly on the family farm, reflected his profound appreciation for life. He selflessly cared for his aging parents and devoted decades to maintaining the family farm after their passing.

His heart belonged to the family farm, where tending to the land was not just a duty for Larry; it was a passion that brought him immeasurable satisfaction. The seasons unfolded like chapters of a beloved story. Larry's bond with his livestock was a testament to his compassionate nature. The barns echoed with the comforting sounds of contented animals, a reflection of the harmony that existed between man and nature on the Skaggs family farm.

Larry's greatest joys was welcoming family and friends into his home, leaving behind a legacy of love that will forever resonate with those privileged to have known him. As we say goodbye, we celebrate a life lived with unwavering kindness, infectious joy, and a legacy of love that will endure in the hearts of all who were touched by Larry's remarkable spirit.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Sherry Skaggs.

Survivors include one sister Carolyn Marie Alderson (Donal); one brother Oscar “Bud” Skaggs; two nieces Pamela Moyes (Brad), Stephanie Smithhart (Kevin), one nephew Chris Skaggs (Shelly); eight great nieces and nephews Scott Moyes, Nicole Moyes, Heath Moyes, Derek Skaggs, Ashley Skaggs, Max Skaggs, Trent Skaggs, Kaylee Smithhart; seven great-great nieces and nephews and his two beloved dogs Ginger and Nala.
