Lola Porter Conner

Lola Fortenbery Conner (Miss Lola) went to heaven August 10, 2008 to be with her Deceased husband Clay, whom she loved dearly. Also, she’ll be with all her brothers and sisters who predeceased her. Andrew (Mamie) Fortenbery, Charles (Bessie) Fortenbery, Beckham (Rubye) Fortenbery, Bloomie, BW (Marie) Fortenbery, Vernon, Red (Frances); Carrie Wiley, Jewel (Noel) Taylor. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two stepdaughters, Wyona (Roger) Copeland and Barbara (Robert) Cramer, their children and grandchildren. She was a Sunday school teacher and librarian. She was also a member of Sebree 1st Baptist and previously Sebree General Baptist. Lola taught 2nd and 4th grades in public schools of Webster Co. for 36 years. She loved the children and remembered each. At her 90th birthday party, she knew almost everyone who attended and could tell a “tale” about their school days. At the nursing home when someone came by to see her, she’d say—that’s one of my school children, name them, and tell something about them. She was as loved by all, as she was loved. She will be missed and remembered especially by her good neighbor, Sue Melton and her niece. Nancy Lineberger—who loved her like her 2nd mother. Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday August 13,2008 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery. Dr. Bob Hardison will officiate. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday August 12 and 9-11AM Wednesday August 13 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel. Pallbearers will be Ozzy O’Nan, Jim Ashby, Jewell B. Davenport, Bill Powell, Hoyte Davenport and Mann Davenport. Memorial contributions may be made to the 1st Baptist Church Building Fund.
