Malcolm Neal Pruitt

Malcolm Neal Pruitt, 90, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 at St. Anthony’s Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center.  He was surrounded by family and friends who loved him. Malcolm was admired and respected by all who knew him. His work ethic, honesty and love for others were qualities that he modeled throughout his life. His love for his church, Bellfield Baptist, and philanthropy of quietly helping those less fortunate than he, were qualities for which Malcolm will always be remembered.After graduating from Barrett Manual Training Center, Malcolm served in the United States Army as a military policeman in Greenland and Virginia. After his military service, he worked for Halliburton Services in Henderson, KY and Wooster Ohio, before retiring to farm in Zion, KY. Malcolm was preceded in death by his parents, Claude James & Marjorie White Pruitt; three brothers, James Spaulding Pruitt, Claude Wilson Pruitt and David Samuel Pruitt; and a sister, Francis Elois. His wife of 20 years, Catherine Elizabeth Ashley and his wife of 41 years, Marie Moss Reed, also preceded Malcolm in death. Survivors include five children; Phyllis Heilman (D.C.) of Charlotte, NC, Marcia Murphy (Jim) of Hilton Head Island, SC, Wayne Pruitt (Vicky) of Wooster, OH, Greg Pruitt (Vicki) of Henderson, KY and Jennifer Howell (Marshall) of Henderson, KY; one stepson, Steve Reed (Janna) of Henderson, KY; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Visitation will be Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 10:00 am till noon at Bellfield Baptist Church. A private service will be held at a later date. Military Rites will be conducted my American Legion Worsham Post #40 burial detail. In lieu of floral arrangements, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Bellfield Baptist Church or St. Anthony’s Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center.
