Margaret Marie Basham

Margaret Marie Basham, 88, of Spottsville, KY passed away Friday, June 7, 2024.

She was born May 19, 1936, in Evansville, IN to the late Earl and Katie Ligon.

Margaret demonstrated an exceptional work ethic throughout her career, working at Period Tables, Inc., Redbanks Nursing Home, and as a private sitter for many years. She cherished spending time with family and hosting cookouts, always offering a table full of food to everyone, regardless of who they were. She lived in Spottsville, KY, for 35 years and loved sitting under the shelter of her swing, always ready to smile and wave at a neighbor, eager for conversation.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Joe Basham; children, Joe Basham Jr., Lelia Mae Basham, and Bill Basham; brothers, Tom Ligon, Bill Ligon, and Clyde Ligon; and sisters, Minnie Richardson and Stella Cutsinger.

She is survived by her son, James Basham (Lesa); daughters, Tina LaRue (Stevie), Debbie Buley, Connie Latham, and Monica Basham; brother, J.C. Ligon (Julie); brother in law, Clyde Basham (Patty); grandchildren, Christopher Basham (Jessica), Donnie Basham (Lisa), Heather Knakmuhs (Mike), Steven LaRue (David Johnathan), Misty Snow (Jacob), Michelle Tapp (Kevin), Chasity Walters (Bobby), Michael Latham (Rachelle), Ashley Latham, Bradley Gray, and Derek Basham (Morgan); 25 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12 at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday, June 11 from 3-7 p.m. and on Wednesday, June 12 from 9 a.m. until funeral time.
