Maria Assion Serrano

Maria Assion Serrano, 84, of Henderson, KY, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. Maria was born May 18, 1936 in New York to the late Anthony and Mercedes (Cartagena) Serrano.  She was a member Victory Christian Church in Henderson.  Maria worked as a CNA and also taught Spanish at South Heights Elementary. In addition to her parents, Maria was preceded in death by her son Jesse Stone and sisters, Lydia Serrano and Sonya Serrano. Maria is survived by her seven children, Jimmy Stone of Henderson, Mary Pirtle of Henderson, Mercedes Suggs of Henderson, Sandy Stone of Arkansas, Lisa Stone of Henderson, Ricky Stone of Henderson, Daniel Stone of Henderson; one brother, Santiago Cartagena, Jr of New Jersey; one sister, Julie Serrano of New Jersey; 25 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be private Friday, October 16, 2020 at Tomblinson Funeral Home, Henderson Chapel.  Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be Friday, October 16, 2020, 1:00 – 3:30 PM at the funeral home.
