Marilou Medlock Gatlin Marilou Medlock Gatlin went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 15 at NHC Nursing Home. She was born September 11, 1918 to Cleve and Nyda Medlock. Known by all her family & friends as “Mama Lou,” her hands were never idle. She worked at Teague’s Grocery Store for many years and served as Treasurer for her church, Mortons Gap Christian Church, for 35 years. Mama Lou was well known at her church for her cooking skills-especially her fried chicken and cherry pie. What a legacy she leaves behind. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Gatlin, her son Lairy Nofsinger, her son-in-law Kenneth Moore and her dear friend Elizabeth Coffman. She is survived by her children Billy Gatlin (Ann) of Mt. Juliet, TN, Sylvia Moore (Kenneth) of Lexington, KY & daughter-in-law, Jean Nofsinger (Lairy) of Mortons Gap, KY. She leaves behind 9 grandchildren: David Nofsinger (Whitney) of Louisville, KY, Sara Jones (Marlon) of Bowling Green, KY, Matt Nofsinger of Louisville, Paula Gatlin of Jacksonville, FL, Greg Gatlin of Mt. Juliet, TN, Alan Gatlin of Alma, MI, Steve Gatlin (Tracey) of Lebanon, TN, Kenny Moore (Glenda) of Columbia, MO and Kevin Moore (Carrie) of Lexington, KY. Mama Lou is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 9 am-11 am on Thursday July 18th at Mortons Gap Christian Church with the funeral service to follow at 11 am. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows cemetery. Reid-Walters Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Casket bearers will be her grandsons. She spent the last 5 years at Oak Ridge Retirement Center and NHC Nursing Home. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at both places.
