Mark Coomes

Mark Coomes, 66, of Henderson, passed away on July 19, 2026, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Born in Owensboro, Mark was the son of the late Edgar and Jessica (Heppler) Coomes. He was a faithful member of Cash Creek Baptist Church.

Mark enjoyed gardening, hunting, watching movies, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and traveling with his wife, creating many cherished memories together. He was an avid fan of University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams.

In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his siblings, Dalarna Breetz, Sharon Hermann, Kenny Tuttle, Lynn Tuttle, and Steve Tuttle.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Shandra Coomes; his daughters, Felicia Douglas (Daniel) and Laura Burris (Bradd); his siblings, Kevin Coomes (Jennifer) and Camilla Frey (Gerry); his grandchildren, Andrew Douglas and Nora Burris; and his mother-in-law, Marcell McHatton (Jim).

A private funeral service will be held with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
