Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Loehr

Liz Loehr, 94, of Slaughters, Ky passed away at 3:07 a.m. Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Redbanks Colonial Terrace in Sebree, Ky. She was born June 8, 1928 in Newburgh, IN. Liz graduated from Newburgh High School in 1946. She worked in the accounting department at SIGECO for 8 years before moving to Kentucky to be a homemaker. She was a member of Saint Michael Catholic Church where she served as president of the Altar Society. She was a Kentucky Colonel, Mt. Pleasant homemaker, 4H Club leader, and WC Library Board member. She enjoyed needle work, attending her grandchildren’s activities, and playing cards. She was also an avid UK basketball fan. Liz is survived by daughters, Lea Ann (Greg) Sugg and Linda (Sonny) Shelton all of Slaughters; grandchildren, Jill Dixon, Jacob Sugg, Jared (Lindsay) Shelton, and Carly (Jon) Newton; 11 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. Liz was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James M. Loehr; her parents, Martin and Marie Schnapf; and her brothers, Marion and Mason Schnapf. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2022, at Saint Michael Catholic Church in Sebree, Ky. Father Carmelo Jimenez will officiate. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree, Ky. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and will continue Friday from 9 to 10:00 a.m. at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel. Pallbearers are Frank Schnapf, Jacob Sugg, Jared Shelton, Jon Newton, Jon Stippler, Jeff Loehr, Danny Loehr, and Paul Loehr. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church or St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
