Mary Elizabeth Lutz

July 28, 1947 — February 19, 2025

Mary Lutz, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Wednesday, February 19, 2025, under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. She was a woman of warmth, kindness, and an unwavering love for those closest to her.

She was born in Henderson, KY on July 28, 1947.

Mary found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, especially cherishing every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether it was sharing stories, laughter, or simply enjoying each other's company, she was happiest when surrounded by those she loved.

Mary loved to fish and the thrill of the catch. She also enjoyed a good game of bingo, playing cards with friends and family, and cooking meals that brought people together. A true Disney fan at heart.

In quieter moments, Mary could often be found watching her favorite television shows, including Touched by an Angel, Highway to Heaven, and anything on the Hallmark Channel—stories filled with faith, love, and kindness, much like the life she lived.

Mary was a member of the Cairo Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Birdie Tabitha (Maddox) Keene; husband, Francis David Lutz; daughter, Carolyn Renee Lutz; sister, Marie Keene Powell; brothers, Glenn Keene, Bernard Keene and Billy Keene and son-in-law, Jimmy “Chop” Cox.

Mary is survived by her four children, Tina Workins (Mike), Missy Ellis (Arthur), David Lutz (Melissa) and Tonya Cox; seven grandchildren, Chris Lutz, Lindsay Broadhurst (Jake), Nicole Ice (Daniel), Alyssa McGuire (T.J), Kyle Cox, Grant Ellis (Jordain) and Carson Ellis (Emily); great grandchildren, Addilyn McGuire, Serenity Broadhurst, Creek McGuire, Elise McGuire, Hunter Ice, Austen Ice, Barrett Ice, Hadley Ice, Declan Ice, Brettlyn Ice and two new ones due are Baby Ice and Shiloh Maryn Ellis; her two dogs, Jazzy and Rusty.

Visitation will be 3:3:0pm – 7:30pm, Friday, February 21 and 8:00am until service time Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the funeral home.
