Mary "Louise" Oglesby

Mary “Louise” (Scott) Oglesby, 84, of Henderson, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023 at Henderson Deaconess Hospital.

Louise was born in Onton, KY on August 21, 1938 to the late Shelby and Lilly (Knight) Scott.

She was a teacher and attended Henderson’s First Baptist Church. Louise received a teaching degree from Murray State University, and, at age 26, married Bobby Gene Oglesby on May 29, 1965. She taught at Bend Gate Elementary and at Henderson County High School, where she taught accounting and typing.

Louise received the honor of Kentucky Colonel and was an avid UK fan. She was a dog lover who enjoyed reading and was a life master of Duplicate Bridge.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Nancy Pullen, Barbra Gene Whitlock, and Jim Scott.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Bobby Oglesby; son, Carter Oglesby and wife, Lori; grandchildren, Shelby Lynne Oglesby, Melanie Elise Oglesby, Larkin Beth Oglesby, and Carson Gene Oglesby.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 26 at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson with Rev. Alan Chamness officiating.

Burial will follow at Fernwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, June 26 from 10:30 a.m. until funeral time.
