Mary Ruth (Harmon) Shelton, “Aunt Rooster” 92 of Ortiz Community near Sebree, KY died at 3:45 AM Tuesday March 16, 2010 at Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree.. She was born in Marksville, KY December 7, 1917, to the late Mack Harmon and Ett (Marks) Harmon. She was a homemaker and member of the Mt. Lebanon General Baptist Church. She graduated from Dixon High School in 1939. Nicknamed Rooster at the early age of four, she later became Aunt Rooster to nieces and Nephews and eventually to the whole community of Ortiz and Mt. Lebanon near the extinct town of Marksville. Mary Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Lester Ogle Shelton, her Parents, one sister Etta Mae Harmon Hampton, and three brothers; George Lee Harmon, M.C. Harmon and Paul Everett Harmon. She is survived by a daughter; Patsy Shelton Ross Harmon of Marshall TX. Sister; Augusta Harmon Miller Hodges of Chicago, IL A large extended family of nieces nephews and cousins; Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday March 20, 2010 at the Mt. Lebanon General Baptist Church near Sebree. Bro. Rudy Moser and Bro. Nathan Bone will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Lebanon Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday March 19 from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel and Saturday March 20 from 11:00 AM until service time at the church.
