Melba Lucille (McClure) Cates, 82 of Henderson, passed away Tuesday January 19, 2016 at 5:45 AM at Lucy Smith King Care Center. She was the owner and founder of The Drummer Christian Book Store in Henderson and a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Morganfield. She was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Lorene (Cottingham) McClure and her husband Charles Beverly Cates. Survivors include 1 daughter Beverly Paris and husband Dana of Henderson 1 son: David Cates and wife Nita of Morganfield 1 Sister: Regina Gregory of Henderson 6 grandchildren: Joel Cates, Abby Paris, Luke Cates, Amy Paris, Jessie Paris and John Paris Services will be 1:00 PM Thursday January 21, 2016 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel. Bro. Dwight Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 4-8PM and Thursday 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Brent Gregory, Paul Gregory, Bob Cottingham, Joel Cates, Luke Cates and John Paris. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Gideons International.
