Melinda "Lindy" Willingham

Melinda Lindy Willingham, 56, passed away Thursday January 28, 2016 at Methodist Hospital. She was preceded in death by her younger sister Holly and her father Elbert. She is survived by her mother Delores and two brothers, Frank and his wife Cindy, Lee and his wife Leah, uncles and aunts and nieces and nephews. She attended HCHS where she excelled in sports, setting the school record in discus. She also led her Basketball team in rebounding and field goal percentage. She won the schools Joe Savoldl award as the schools outstanding student/ athlete, becoming the first female to win the honor. From HCHS she went on to Western KY University where she established new school records in 1978 in both the discus and the shot put. With a degree in nursing she worked at Methodist Hospital. She enjoyed fishing, golf and cheering for the KY Wildcats. Lindy never met a stranger and truly loved all people. She was a gentle soul and would do anything she could to help you. She left this Earth too soon and will be so missed by her family and friends. God speed, my angel. A private Funeral service will be held at a later date.
