Melton Hobgood

Melton Hobgood, 92 of Sebree died on September 1, 2015 at Redbanks Colonial Terrace. He was born in Webster County on November 1, 1922 to the late Henry and Dott Hobgood. He was a retired farmer, previously worked for Stull’s Seed Corn & Ring Around, a 55 year Mason with the Bailey-Onton Lodge #538, and a member of Sebree United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Bertie Mae (Riggs) Hobgood in 1997, and his wife Lillie Bell (Brown) Hobgood in 2010 and two sisters Ellene Williams and Reva Whitman. He is survived by 3 sons, Jerry (Nell) Hobgood of Sebree, Merle (Marcella) Hobgood of Dixon, and James (Delane) Hobgood of Onton. Three daughters, Sherill (Roger) Daulton of Bowling Green, Barbara (Jonathan) Clark of Winchester, TN, Renee (Phillip) Faughn of Dixon. Stepson, Robert Alan Harmon of Providence. Stepdaughters, Robin Halcomb of East Stone Gap, VA, and Rita Carrithers of Louisville. 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. A special friend Bea West. Services will be on Thursday, September 3 at 11:00 at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Sebree with Pastors James Shuck and Stan Strader officiating. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time. Pallbearers will be grandsons Gary Hobgood, Mark Hobgood, Eric Daulton, Jay Clark, Todd Whitsell, and Sam Skaggs. Memorial donations can be made to Sebee United Methodist Church.
